Musician

Music is healing!  Its always been a big part of my life – both my parents are musicians.  I’ve been singing non stop since I was very young.  Since then I’ve continued singing, playing violin and recording with local and national artists.

Actor
As an actor Suzy has done experimental theatre and performance as well as film.  Most recently she studied with Linda Donnell, director of “Little Bird in The Night”.

Suzy has played leading roles in “The Apocalypse” directed by Henry Williamson and RealEyes Theatre, “Born a Unicorn” written and directed by Ted Lange and The North Carolina Black Theatre Rep,  “Eve at the River” written and directed by Cara Hagan at High Point University, “Alice in Wonderland” directed by Danielle Rennalls at The Millhouse, “The Yesman” by Suzy McCalley at The Enrichment Center. Suzy has also starred in the independent films “Autumn” by Ross Mihalko, “The Den” by Nathan Ross Freeman and “Inny, Outty” by Suzy McCalley.

Writer
Although, Suzy is largely self taught as a writer.  She did receive valuable training in Theatre at the University of Texas at Austin as well as through her mentor playwright Nathan Ross Freeman and most recently at the playwright program by Branden Jenkins-Jacobs at La Mama in Umbria, Italy.

Suzy has written several plays including “A Goddess Tale” which she also directed and co-produced at The Hanesbrands Theatre in 2015 in her hometown of Winston Salem, NC.

She also wrote “Little Bird in The Night” a one woman show about her life, which she performed both in Winston Salem and New York City at La Mama Experimental Theatre and will be presenting at the United Solo Theatre Festival in October, 2016.  Learn more and buy tickets here!
